What is the Husky Hustle?

The ‘Husky Hustle’ is a school fundraising event for Heatherstone Elementary School.  The 2010 event is the seventh annual event and features a 5K road race and a 1 Mile Family jog and walk.  The annual event is also called the Fun Run, a popular event that brings family, fun, and fitness together.  Profits from the event go to support student and academic programs at Heatherstone School.

Where is Heatherstone School?
Heatherstone School is located at 13745 W. 123rd Street in Olathe, Kansas.

When is the Husky Hustle?
This year’s event is scheduled for Friday evening, April 30, 2010.  The 5K road race will begin at 6:00 PM and the 1 Mile Family walk/jog will start at 6:10 PM.

Where will the race be run?

Both the 5K and the 1 Mile Family walk/jog both begin at the Heatherstone School site. The 5K route will go through the Heatherstone neighborhood and then onto the nearby Indian Creek path.  The final leg of the race will return the runners to Heatherstone School through Heatherstone Park.

The 1 Mile Family walk/jog will follow the same route as the 5K race. At the ½ mile point, runners/walkers will circle back to the start/finish line at Heatherstone School.

How do I register for the race?

Registration brochures are available at Heatherstone School.  Also, a brochure can be downloaded from this website (see ‘Registration’ link on the website home page).  The registration deadline is Friday, April 9, 2010.  Later registrations will not be guaranteed an event t-shirt.

 How much does the race cost?

The registration fee for the Husky Hustle is $12.00.  There is a family rate of $40 which allows one to register all members of the family.  This family rate comes with three official race t-shirts.

 What do I get with my registration?

Each race participant will receive an official race number, a Husky Hustle race t-shirt, and access to post-race food and snacks.

If I can’t run, can I still get involved in the Husky Hustle?
Yes!  Volunteers are needed to help at the event.  Volunteers are needed to monitor the race course, man the two water stations, and direct runners around the start/finish area. 

In addition, business are sought to provide financial or ‘in-kind’ gifts to support the event.  If you’d like to volunteer or be a business/corporate sponsor of this year’s Husky Hustle, please contact the race director at the phone number or email address listed below.  A Donation Request letter can be found at the ‘Event Sponsors’ link on the website home page.  

What else takes place at the Husky Hustle event?
Throughout the event, music will be provided by local disc jockey.  This year’s event will also feature a Silent Auction where visitors can place bids for valuable gifts provided by many local businesses.  There will also be an entertainment stage show featuring local talent, and a variety of carnival games for kids to enjoy.

Will there be any concessions available?

There will be a meal available that is catered by Celebrities Sidewalk Café.  This meal must be ordered and pre-paid with your registration. Please see the registration brochure for details of the meal.
